This week's Bible story is the Creation Story. Read the story to complete an activity and play a fun game at the end!
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was covered in darkness, but the power of God was moving over the earth. Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God was pleased with what He saw. Then He separated the light from the darkness. God named the light "Day" and the darkness "Night." Evening passed, and morning came. This was the first day. Then God commanded, “Let there be space between the waters to separate the waters of heaven from the waters of earth,” and it was done. So God named the space "Sky." Evening passed, and morning came. This was the second day. Then God commanded, “Let the water below the sky come together into one place so that dry land can appear,” and it was done. He named the dry land "Earth," and the gathered waters He called "Sea." God was pleased with what He saw. Then He commanded, “Let the earth produce all kinds of plants, those that bear grain and those that bear fruit,” and it was done. So the earth produced all kinds of plants, and God saw that it was good. Evening passed, and morning came. This was the third day. Then God said, “Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them be signs to mark the seasons, days, and years. Let these lights shine down on the earth,” and that is what happened. God created two great lights—the larger one to rule over the day and the other to rule over the night. He also made the stars. God set these lights in the sky to light the earth, to rule over the day and the night, and to separate the darkness from the light. God saw that it was good. Evening passed, and morning came. This was the fourth day. Then God said, “Let the waters swarm with fish and other life. Let the skies be filled with birds of every kind,” so God created great sea creatures and every living thing that scurries and swarms in the waters, and every kind of bird—each producing offspring of the same kind. God saw that this was good. Then God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply. Let the fish of the seas and the birds of the air multiply on the earth.” Evening passed, and morning came. This was the fifth day. Then God said, “Let the earth produce every sort of animal, each producing offspring of the same kind—livestock, wild animals, and small animals that scurry along the ground,” and that is what happened. God made all kinds of wild animals, livestock, and small animals, each able to produce offspring of the same kind. God saw that it was good. Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and the animals on the earth.” So God created human beings in His own image—male and female. God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and rule over it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and the animals along the ground.” Then God said, “Look! I have given you every seed-bearing plant throughout the earth and all the fruit trees for your food. And I have given every green plant as food for the animals.” And that is what happened. Then God looked over all He had made and saw that it was very good. Evening passed, and morning came. This was the sixth day. Then, on the seventh day, God rested. This is the account of the creation of the heavens and the earth.
